Did you say video games?! (Week 5)

 

Who doesn’t like to play video games?! Even if it is the occasional game of animal crossing, Zelda, or even call of duty… who am I kidding? Those are my go-to games. I can not remember the last time I enjoyed a PC game; I now prefer the switch due to the portability. However, with PC games being popular with a lot of gamers, more and more people are opting to build their own PCs. Giving them top notch features to enhance their gaming experience.

Why would someone build a gaming PC? There are multiple reasons, mainly it gives the user complete control for graphics, audio, and overall customization.

If you are interested in doing a gaming build there are a number of things you should consider before jumping in… a gaming computer needs a multicore processor, high-end cooling, a quality GPU, and a high-definition sound card.  Ideally, those that want to venture into building their own should do some research as this can come with a hefty upfront cost.

Of course, someone could just jump in before doing research, but Because gaming computers require specialized or high-quality components, you should beware of your budget… how much are you willing to spend on the build? What type of cooling will you use? It also wouldn’t hurt to have a little knowledge of computers, to avoid the potentials of ruining or damaging any of the hardware components.


 Remember: Your budget will play a role in the quality of your PC build.

Mother bored? (Week 2)

  Holy mother of boards… or should I say motherboards! Have you ever wondered why they are called motherboards? I have! Out of all the names they could have chosen, that’s what they decided on…😂    Interestingly, circuit boards that are plugged into a motherboard are called “daughterboards”.   Based on the naming, one might assume that the motherboard is the brains behind the operations; but that would actually be the central processing unit. Think of the motherboard as the base of operations, where information comes and goes. Traveling through the motherboard to get from one place to another. If you ask me, I think a better fitting name would be: Main circuit board  Moving on from the technicality of weird names for computer components. Did you know that before Microsoft’s graphic user interface, there was such thing as command user interface? Do we really need air?! (Week 4)

  Air is extremely important in all aspects. Imagine, it’s a hot summer day… your air conditioning went out, you open all the windows to keep from overheating; allowing the gentle breeze to travel and flow through one open window to the other. Giving you the necessary airflow to keep your house a smidge cooler and to help circulate stagnate air. Similarly, this can be translated into airflow in computers. Why is airflow in computers crucial? Having proper airflow helps keep your computer cool and improves longevity. Afterall, the hardware sits inside a box all day… it would start to get hot and overheat if not for having the necessary airflow. Some things to think about in terms of your computer’s airflow are fans, vents, and hardware placement. All of these can play a role in keeping your computer running smoothly and efficiently.
